The first thing you can do is to arrange the things for the roof repair you may require. Get a mallet, nails for roofing, putty knife, utility knife, brooms and mortar for roofing. This are all the necessary materials to restore your flat roof.
Go to your roof and find the issues in order to begin roof repair. If you have found peeled areas or cracks on it, take the following steps: Use the broom to get rid of the dust and debris on the roof. Roofing cement does not adhere to soil surfaces, so you need to make sure the whole area is safe. Cut a form now on to the place where the crack or peel has been located. If there are many cracks or peels, for uniformity, make use of the same shapes. Create a pattern on the replacement shingles using the cut form. It should be true to the size and form that you make on the replacement shingle. If you have made a size error, make many alternative shingles so that the shingles will be at the same height as the area on it. Create a substitute shingle for another. This one must be thicker than the other shingles by at least 2 inches.
In the area around the corners, insert the putty knife. Under the corners, bring roofing mortar. Now, fix the hole to the shingle and nail it flat. Cement the shingle with it. The other shingles must not be cemented if you are going to use several shingles to level the area. Just pound the nails down on it. Tack down the wider replacement shingle on the area and put the seal on its edges with roofing cement.
